UPDATE 2-15-2015: After magically getting this to work something happened in the last week and nothing shows up again. :( I think I'll try the Lutron home kit devices. It can't be any worse than this mess.

The new Home Kit enabled version of the Insteon hub is not ready for release. Insteon should never have released this yet. I have no idea how they tested this product and determined it was ready for consumers because nothing works like it should.

I hooked my system up yesterday. Everything is brand new since I had no Insteon products before. Adding the hub was simple so I was off to a good start. I only have one dimmer switch. But no matter what I tried I could not get the switch to show up in the app. I don't know if it's an app issue or a hub issue. I spent an hour (seriously. I was on hold an hour) waiting to speak with tech support. I finally did and he had me perform many factory resets. In the end nothing worked and he finally informed me that they were having software issues. He said I could return it and they would ship me a new one when things were fixed. Or I could wait for a firmware update to fix their problems. At the time of hanging up I couldn't even connect the app to hub anymore. So even the simple step in the beginning was failing.

After hanging up with tech support I somehow got my hub to connect again. It wouldn't show up but then it did when I visited the site connect.insteon.com/getinfo. No idea what that did to make the hub show up again. And somehow my dimmer switch added after this. I have no idea what the magical step was, it just started working. I guess 50 times the charm?

    Very frustrating.

I received this hub on June 17th and it worked with the 2474DWH SwitchLinc 2-Wire RF Remote Control Dimmer intermittently for about a week and then it just stopped working. Connection with my ecobee 3 thermostat was a little better. I quit fighting the hub and seriously considered returning it, but decided to wait for the firmware update. That update came a couple of days ago and I am happy to say everything is working as it should. Even Siri was able to operate the switch although I couldn't get Siri to dim the lights. That may just be me not knowing how to use it though. Those two devices are all I have to work with the hub, so I can't speak for other devices, but so far so good. I haven't needed to power cycle it since the update. Response time has lagged now and then, but 90% of the time it's what you'd expect. I imagine if I had the 3 wire switch it would be perfect. Occasionally, the ecobee 3 won't show online, but I prefer ecobee's app anyway. There is now hope this hub. Glad I stayed with it. Keep going Insteon, you're heading in the right direction!

For me, it came down to not wanting to update my very expensive Indigo Home Automation software, which I never really liked in the first place. It's bad interface, non-intuitive device programming, reliance on a wired connection to a computer and hefty price tag always had me longing for some other solution. So, I dove into the Insteon Hub Pro with both feet and now have buyer's remorse. I broke my cardinal rule of "never buying version 1.0" of anything and I regret it.

Last night, I came home to a completely dark house. "No problem", I figured. "I'll just turn on all my outside lights from the driveway." Nope.

The iPhone app couldn't connect to any scenes or devices and there's no explanation for why. This is actually the second time the hub didn't control devices as it was supposed to and in my mind, that's bad. If I'm not at home, I at least want the lights on to make the house looked lived in.

I was willing to overlook the fact that I can't program ramp rates, that when I ask a light to be turned on, it comes on to the last intensity it was set to (not 100% in most cases), I can't program with conditional logic, the unit doesn't recognize sunrise and sunset times, I can't connect to any of my KeypadLinc units...and on...and on. Answers in the documentation and KB are hard to find and not helpful when you do find them.

The iOS software is a bit of a burden too - the "drilling down" paradigm is tedious. More direct access to devices rather than having to plow through My Home > A Zone > All Devices would be appreciated. You're always 3-4 taps away from making anything happen.

I don't know whether to wait for a software update or pack the thing back in the box and get a refund so that I can use the money to purchase a piece of software I don't like to use with an aging control unit I don't want to replace. I hate throwing good money after bad, but that's what I may have to do.

I would love to give this unit another chance, but I have no idea when a solution will come - if at all. They rushed this into production and it shows.

    UPDATE: 10/6/2015
I attempted (several times) to apply the latest firmware update to the device, but haven't been able to connect to the Hub with the iPhone for several weeks. I followed support article instructions for a soft reset (unplug the device, plug it back in and wait two minutes, then see if it turns up on your network). While it passed this test, I still could not connect to the device via the app.

I finally had time to spend on the phone with tech support and mercifully, only had to wait two minutes to speak with someone. I've heard of wait/callback times that are an hour or more. He walked me through a factory reset (last option, really), which includes removing the application from your iPhone and resetting your HomeKit Configuration. This ultimately winds up removing all of your HubPro configurations. That's right: every device you added, every scene you programmed, every scheduled event you set up is GONE! There's no way to back up and retrieve any of this configuration information, which is wholly unfortunate. What an incredible omission on their part!

Due to the fact that I had updated my iPhone to the latest OS (9.0.2), the TSR had to escalate my case. I have no idea how long it will take for them to get back to me.
