Stopped working after about a month - it is stuck on bogus readings for temp and humidity. There is not way to contact someone at Elgato. You can just fill out a form on the website and hope they get back to you.

This is a good product, I'm using it to monitor humidity conditions for cigars. The humidity accuracy is very good, I'd say +-1% or better. A couple of complaints. First, Siri integration doesn't work well. I ask her for the humidity, I can see the BT connect, and then it says it can't connect. Not the end of the world, and probably the fault of Siri more so than Eve. The second complaint is that the data is only accessible if you are near the device. So no remote monitoring, which to me is a big part of the whole smart-home experience.

So in short, I give it 5/5 because, for what it was designed for it works great!

I've had this device for a few months now and I wish I could get a refund. Let me start by saying that it does ok with temperature and humidity but that's about it.

I tested it, when it first arrived, in my bathroom as I applied a new coat of acrylic sealant to the shower tiles. It seemed to immediately pick up on the VOC's, so I had high hopes for it.

Fast forward to recent times. It's finally fireplace weather and this device has failed miserably. In a room of about 500 sq. ft., and a guy that has poor fire starting abilities (read tons of smoke), this thing believes all is good with the world. Air quality is steady at 450ppm and just loves the smoke filled air. Now I'm not exaggerating here... Wood smoke filled room and this thing reads it as fine. By the metric, I supposed cigarettes are fine as well.

The app was mostly terrible when it first came out but one looks past this in a new product. Also, of note, I always tested its VOC sensor by blowing a little air in the vents to see if it picked up the CO2, it worked in the beginning but now that does not even work. This was only done a few times, months ago, for testing.

So, all I can surmise is that the sensor is defective or I have a zero-emission fireplace. My wood is a miracle of science... Or the sensor is garage? Doesn't really matter, this device is garbage and should not be considered for any serious monitoring because it is not accurate or the sensor fails within a couple months.

Please, heed my warning. This device is not of a quality that is worth your health or life. Use for nothing more than novelty or temp/humidity monitoring. Even with humidity, buy a cheap device that is proven, so you can compare the two and ensure that it still works.

    Expensive toy.

I have a specific use case for a remote sensor: monitor temperature and humidity in a room off of our basement which has been designated as a meat curing room (salami, etc.). For such use, the room needs to stay within a certain temperature/humidity range for ideal curing to take place over potentially long periods of time.

The Eve Room does just that. It is quite useful in that it provides me with long-term historical data on temperature and humidity, which I can compare against outdoor values over the same time period. This in turn allows me to select the best time of year to perform cures without having to worry about excessive temperature fouling the process. The remote thermo-hygrometer I had been using did not provide historical data (only current data) so the Eve Room fills that niche quite nicely.

It is compact, stylish, and runs off of standard AA batteries. Setup was painless - I was off and running in a few minutes. The HomeKit integration is nice, though the Eve Room is currently the only HomeKit-enabled device I’m using at the moment.

There are a couple of things I’d like to see improved with the Eve Room. One is that due to the limited range of Bluetooth, I have to go to that part of the house to synchronize data. Not a deal-breaker by any stretch, but I look forward to Elgato’s promised integration with Bluetooth range extenders, which should eliminate this issue. Another feature that would be nice to have is some kind of background alerting based on an arbitrary threshold. For example, it would be nice to know when temperatures are exceeding a desired maximum. Apparently, this functionality counts on HomeKit support for such devices, which will likely be implemented in iOS in a future update.

Since I’ve had the Eve Room, I’ve seen updates to the IOS app which add functionality, so I’m confident that I’ll see some of the desired improvements with time.

Excellent Sensor, and functioned as described. I purchased this sensor to monitor my home from my mobile device. While the Eve has this capability, you need an Apple TV to use it. I did not realize this fact until I received the Eve.

    Pros:
    Easy to setup.
    Stylish design.

    Cons:

Need an iPhone or iPad to use it.
    not android compatible
Need apple tv to read data from outside of the home.
Limited functionality (e.g. the "air quality" test only rates the quality of the air from poor to excellent, but does not show the levels of "volatile organic compounds."

This device works well, but does not offer enough functionality for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sub-par Performance -- Too Expensive
Reviewed in Canada on December 8, 2015
For the price, this really isn't worth it. The first one of these I had ordered didn't work at all right out of the box -- nothing whatsoever. And it appeared to me as though it had already been used previously since there were very slight smudges on the face of the unit as well as uneven imperfections in the folds of the box, almost as though it had been opened before. Had to send it back. The replacement unit came in only a bubble envelope, so with little protection. The product box also had obvious 'wearing' in its folded flaps and one of the little adhesive stickers that keeps those folds closed was quite obviously re-sealed as it had smudges on its glue side. This time, however, at least the unit actually worked. But not as it should. It was super easy to set up and it is extremely accurate as tested against a couple of industrial devices I have on hand. But that's where the positives end. First impression is that it is constructed rather cheaply as there is no real weight to it at all, and it certainly does have that typical 'made-in-China' inferior quality to the feel of the plastic -- even though this is actually made in Taiwan -- which is worse. Another issue is that it often looses its bluetooth connection. I use an iPhone 6s Plus running multiple bluetooth devices. They all maintain their connections without issues. It's intergration with Apple Home Kit features are very inconsistent. One example is when asking Siri to read out what the room vitals are. It sometimes does so successfully, but about 50% of the time Siri will state it is unable to locate any devices. And a 100% of the time, Siri will never connect with the 'air-quality' sensor of Eve, I don't think that it even has that specific capability -- only temperature and humidity. I could be wrong, but so far no readings at all from Siri regarding air quality. The most frustrating aspect of this product is that it is obviously recognized and recommended by Apple since it has HomeKit capabilities, so you would think that it would, therefore, encompass a similar quality. Wrong again. I've come to realize as of late that anything carrying Apple's logos actually do not work very well at all. It's a very disturbing trend as I now equate such logos to products that are very sub-par.
