- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2025I read the instructions and hooked it up, and my Samsung TV was producing a dialogue box that stated that it was a non-ARC connection… at first, I thought the down converter was defective only to find I was not using a bidirectional cable! This fixed the problem, system works as intended, and I dodged a return! This is a great little converter! Just make sure you use the proper cabling… 🙂
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2025I bought it because my tv is older and doesn’t have toslink/hdmi ARC or anything i can use to connect it directly to my Sonos Ray soundbar. I have a roku stick that i’ve been using to stream on my tv for years, and I plugged in the roku into the adapter, and the tv & sonos into the output side. It worked perfectly, there is no lag. if you read the instructions, it tells you that clicking the button on the adapter and getting it to flash red means it is on 5.1. my sonos supports the 5.1 and it sounds nice and dynamic as if there was no adapter and it was connected straight to the tv. Definitely recommend, saved me from having to buy a brand new tv
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2025This is a small device, 2 1/2" X 2 3/4" X 3/4" black-box that easily tucks in the corner of your cabinet and works as advertised. It will output simultaneously on the L&R RCA jacks and Toslink while also passing-thru the HDMI signal with audio. I almost sent it back, had RMA, for 'no RCA or Toslink output'. Checking one more time, I discovered that the HDMI output I was trying to use had no audio, it was filtered upstream. So be sure your HDMI cable connection has audio. I downgraded rating to 4-stars because it does not include a USB-A 5v DC adapter to make it work, had to get one.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2024I have a projector home theater setup with an older, non-HDMI compatible surround sound head unit. This wasn't an issue when I was using an old Xbox one as my media player because the Xbox had a "Toslink" is optical audio out option that could go to the stereo. However, every modern streaming device (Roku, Apple TV, etc) re just HDMI out, so when I switched to a Roku Ultra I had no way to get audio. This worked great, and the 5.1 channel DTS/Dolby surround option (press the button, light turns on) is putting out great audio. Saved me from huge expense and effort of upgrading an older home theater projection setup and stereo. Recommend. I've only had it working for a day, so I'll try to update my review if the product stops working in under a year.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2024i plugged in a hdmi into hdmi in. plugged a hdmi into hdmi out. plugged in a aux for some amazon basic speakers. no audio comes out. and if i unplug the speakers and plug them back in everything will flicker then i MIGHT get audio out of it... sometimes if i get audio it will play got about 5-10 minutes then ill hear a loud pop and then the screen will turn off for a few then turn back on but now with no audio... trying to get a small monitor going for a kids tv with a roku express the monitor doesnt have speakers and the kids broke the last tv they had so im just trying to get this one working untill they eventually break it then they prolly wont have a tv for a bit. but having no audio sucks honesty i would not recommend to buy this unless i happened to get a faulty one. but this is junk save your money
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2025I ordered an open box item which was supposed to be "Like New" condition. Unfortunately it was missing the power cable so the unit won't function. This one seems like it's fine but instead of replacing with the same product I plan to buy one that uses a USB-C power supply instead. That way I can always swap out the power supply with another if it gets lost or broken. There's plenty of options in this price point, so my recommendation is to buy one with more universal power option instead.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2025Works great thank you
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2025This is what you need if you want to use a speaker such as a JBL Party box with a google Chromecast. The older model Chromecast would work, but they don't work on newer WiFi routers, at least the newer google router. Some of the google home devices can't be grouped with speakers. You can control Bluetooth speakers with google home devices but they can't be added to speaker group.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go for it if your tv doesn't support HDMI Arc and optical out
This is the best device for extracting Dolby digital 5.1 audio output from hdmi Input Devices to connect to your 5.1 Home theatre through optical out if your tv is old which doesn't support HDMI Arc and optical out
And this device work perfectly with firestick for getting Dolby digital audio
I have a firestick and 5.1 Sony Home theatre HT S20r and my tv is Panasonic old 32 inch tv which doesn't support HDMI Arc and optical out in it so i was not able to get 5.1 surround sound from firestick So after a lot of research i have ordered this device from amazon and after connecting my firestick to this device it transmitts Dolby digital audio signal to optical port to my home theatre and video signals are being passed through hdmi output to my tv by this way you can enjoy 5.1 surround sound from HDMI input source
Important Information
This device supports only Dolby digital 5.1 and basic Dts formats and supported and also Dolby digital plus is also not supported through optical it can be passed through only hdmi arc function
Update November
